Going to be buying a few 25 pound bags of organic grains, flours, rice, etc.
Not sure what to get. Figured Organic wheat flour for bread making.
Some organic brown rice, though not sure which is healthier: short grian, long grain, basmati?
Which is healthiest.

Re: BUYING Healthiest Grains, Flours, Rice, etc
Sun, November 11, 2007 - 9:28 AMWell, wheat flour is good, I am a bit of a believer that most people are a little gluten intolerant by nature and should avoid too much of it, you can use spelt flour or rice flour for bread (though, spelt works better) or a mix with the wheat flour, but thats your body and if you know you do not have any gluten intolerance then go for it.
I am pretty positive it does not matter short or long grain but brown is much healthier then white. Are you into quinoa? quinoa is a seed therefore has life-energy and it had many essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It takes much less time to cook then brown rice and can be used as a substitute for many rice dishes (except things like sushi...)
Also, Living in that dreary place of portland I am sure you crave warm dishes in the morning, Kamut and oatmeal are great iron and fiber rich grains to start the day!
Hope your life is full of light and love! good luck!
