NOOOOOO!
whfoods.org/genpage.php
Isn't it bad enough that the price of almonds skyrocketed in the last year or so? Now the government is requiring that all almond manufacterers must pasteurize their almonds. For the few exceptions to the rule (small farmers, organic farmers, etc), now the price will have to go even higher, and the demand will exceed the supply once again.
Is anybody else frightened by this precedent? Or will this just help the organic/local food movements in the long run?

Re: No more raw almonds?!?
Sun, August 26, 2007 - 8:58 AMThe good news is that you live in an area where almonds are grown......go out and buy some on a farm and pay the parmer directly for them. The harvest will start soon.......
Good luck! -
